The Plaza COA Board Update
Downtown Planning
The COA Board of directors is taking an active interest in working with the Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) and the Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) to work on issues that are important to our residents.
My name is Don Anderson and I serve on the Plaza COA Board. I’m currently working on a subcommittee of the DRA to address the issue of Outdoor Amplified Entertainment permit requests. We were all made aware of these requests in a letter dated November 8, from the City Of Raleigh. At the permit hearing the City Council requested that the DRA pull together the major stakeholders to see if an action plan could be worked out that was acceptable to most parties and present it back to the council with recommendations on how to proceed. This committee has meant twice to see if some common ground can be reached. Once a recommendation is reached I will see that we review it at a scheduled board meeting and inviting all residents and making them aware of what will be proposed.
Stephen, Gloria, a couple residents, and I also attended a DRA meeting held December 2, in which several other Plaza residents attended. This meeting was to solicit input from business and residents about downtown issues they would like to address. Follow up meetings will be held monthly and subcommittees will be formed to work on specific issues. On Dec 9 I attended a meeting of the CAC for the Central district. This group always works on common issues. A description of the CAC’s mission and current activities can be found on-line at www.raleighnc.gov/communityservices.
Several people commented to me after our last meeting that someone seem to be operating a leaf blower at about 4am near Wilmington & Martin. I think it would be great if we would all start using the city's "ClickFix" web site to report these type of issues. To request service, address an issue, you also find find the appropriate contact information on the Question, Comment or Concern page
In addition, residents can click on the interactive Citizen Service Request map to precisely pinpoint and describe the issue, such as Graffiti, Potholes, Drainage, Signals / Signs, Parks / Trails, Water / Sewer, Garbage or Other. The appropriate City of Raleigh staff will be alerted and a response coordinated to ensure satisfactory resolution. Residents may click on an issue to indicate their agreement with the request, make additional comments, follow the issue, or share their concern with fellow residents. Here is the link

If you have any questions, would like to get more information, or have recommendation, you can, as with any issue, ask that it be put on the Board agenda.
